Title: 67 hubcaps
Post by: phils_crew on December 08, 2010, 03:47:34 AM

  hey,    :o    ???    :P

just spent 4 hours reading these orginality discussions wondering about the dog dish type hub

caps i have on my  67rs.i kind of hoped they were a orginal to the car ,but when i seen fronts

were 14" and rears were 15" i knew better.found them on year one..cop or police was the

description .they reminded me of the baby moons on chrome reverse rims back in the day..only

with chevy bowties and the thin inset painted rings around the edges.i guess i`d use the derbys

i loved to see on ...nope not available until 68  ...might as well put it on blocks and plant flowers.

ok  ..just kidding..were these style caps a rpo?..dealer add on?..gee orginally is tuff....phil   :-X

To include a picture, type in your text and then click on the "Preview" button instead of the "Post" button. Then click on the "Browse" button to attach the picture. Hard to tell from the picture, but they appear to be old 30's or 40's style! Or maybe even aftermarket like THIS ONE (http://www.streetrodhq.com/images_product/normal/3908671.jpg).

I can see some kind of emblem in the center but can't make it out. That might give us a better idea of what they are. Is it the Chevrolet Bow Tie? Can you get a better picture?

Yeah, from the picture, those are definitely the "police caps" made for the rally wheels.  As shown here:
http://www.rickscamaros.com/camaro-police-style-center-cap-with-bowtie-logo-1967-1969.html

They were not available as a RPO for 67-69 that I know of.  Not sure when they became available from GM, others may know.

Weren't used in 67 - 68 that's for sure, too.  Why not go ahead and use the 67 rally wheel cap?

Yes, going by the picture, your rims are rally. The correct cap for 1967 rally's is THIS ONE (http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4129/5090806393_bc6531c4ae_b.jpg) ("Chevrolet Motor Division - Disc Brakes").

The cap in your picture is from a late model police and taxi car. Streetrod guys use them.

14/15 was a popular stance even in 67, but not factory. Yes, 14, except for Z's.
