Title: 68 4spd xmsn shifter
Post by: joesauer on September 26, 2009, 04:00:13 PM
My 68 SS has an older muncie m21 4spd (casting 3851325).  Has the speedo cable on the left side & appears to be out of a 1963-65 chevy/nova/etc.  Since it was just rebuilt (over $1900), I'm not ready to replace it with a numbers matching xmsn(yet).  I'd like to change the linkage/shifter to the correct 68 muncie. Does anyone know if the 68 linkage/shifter will work ok?  Thanks

My L30M20 has a 4spd shifter, wide ratio on a saginaw trans. The shifter has become very loose, I dont want to have to take the cross bar off to check it out . I can't find any diagrams to give me an idea whats broke, missing. Any ideas or similar problem! Carl

Still looking for help re: using 68 Muncie shifter/linkage on an older Muncie 4speed with speedo cable on the left side (see previous post).  Does anyone know if it will work ok, without changing out the tailshaft to a later Muncie.  My 68 SS xmsn was recently rebuilt, so don't want to change it out to a correct numbers matching unit (yet).  Thanks.
