Title: Heat pipe fastener ID needed

Does any one know what the fastener used to hold the stove pipe to the heat stove was?
Application: 1968 sb 350 4 barrel

What finish did the Heat Stove have from the factory?

I don't believe there was a fastener.  The stove pipe just fit into the flange.  As for finish, I believe the pipe was 30% gloss black.

See page 345 of 1968 ASM.  Screw part # 447143 was used and I believe AMK Products has it listed on there website.

I saw the part # but could not find a reference to what that is. I will check with AMK as I have not checked with them on this one.

BillG - The Heat Pipe was painted but I am finding that the Heat Stove was bare steel. 68 requirred a screw at the base of the Heat Pipe. 69 did not (at least on Chevelles).

Thanks.  I stand corrected.  I was assuming 68-69 were about the same; just opposite sides of the engine.

Hi,

I owned an 1968 06c 327/275hp auto.  It still had the pipe and shield, never had a screw in it.  Now I don't know if it was replaced before my family owned it (early 80's) or if it was replaced when it had the engine stop lift cable installed (recall).  I do have another setup from a '68, I don't know the build information, it also has never been screwed together.

Can you post a pic? The heat pipe to heat stove on a 350 has a screw but only one on the the bottom. Nothing located on the top side. The iformation I have learned so far is that the 2 barrel carb setup also requirred a different heat pipe than the 4 barrel but utilized the same aircleaner base and heat stove. I never saw one of those so if you have one a pic would help identify it.
