Title: Charlotte AutoFair
Post by: lakeholme on March 07, 2009, 10:06:12 PM
Anyone coming to the Charlotte AutoFair from my neck of the woods?

http://www.charlotte-autofair.com/

The lady in charge of vendor fees says plenty of vendors are coming.  All the infield, blue and orange fields are sold out, but still spaces in the green field.  The AACA show will be in the red field on Saturday.  If the weather cooperates it should be a great event.

I always go and will be there. I have a short drive from just East of Raleigh. Maybe I will be more successful in the parts hunting than the fall. I found very little good used first generation Camaro parts and nothing NOS.

I plan to drive down from VA, about 2.5 hrs - if weather is OK.....  Looking forward to a break.

Got an update Tuesday night on the AutoFair, AACA show, etc.
This should be as big an event as ever.  Vendor registration is as many as last several years.  Lots of cars for sale in the car corral. Great response for the AACA show on Saturday. (which is outside in the red field at the April event, so it is free admission (AACA rule)).  The area Camaro Club will be there on Saturday, as well.

All that to say, it looks like the economic downturn is not hurting this event.  I've seen similar good new in other events.  Now, if anybody can find and afford what they need... (Tim, it does seem like all the Camaro vendors are just pushing repo stuff now.) And it doesn't rain...!

I hope all this is good news for the hobby!
At the end of the month, NCRS and Pinks are at Lowes at the same time.  They are already warning that all the motels will be full, so folks should book early.

Glad to hear the turn out is still up. I am addicted to Charlotte Auto Fair. We just had the Carolina Collectors Auto Show recently in Raleigh and the selection is very limited. Yes, the major vendors at Charlotte all sell repo parts. It is the small vendors that sometimes have some used stuff. I am hoping with the slow economy some of them will be willing to let some things go.

Tim,

Is there a web site still up about the March event in Raleigh?
I searched for it and could not find anything...

Here is the link. It is still working. It is a small show/swap meet and not worth a long drive. One guy did have a used camaro parts including a nice original 8m date code jack. Another is always there that restores seat belts. At least 3 local NC license tag vendors are always there. I bought a repo part that fixed my RS headlight doors  ;D

Great turnout!  Fantatic AACA show!  Some nice Camaros!
Biggest complaint: swap meet had very few original parts!
Are swap meets drying up???
