I have a power steering box I pulled from a 68 Camaro in a junkyard. The number on the case is 5691676 and 36 underneath that. The date stamped on the top is 255 8. There are some other numbers but I don't think they are relevant to determining the box's origin. If other numbers are needed, post it here and let me know and I will add them.
If I remember correctly, this would indicate the 255th day of 1968...Correct? This would give me a rough date of Sept 12, 1968. That would make this an early 69 Camaro box instead? Just want confirmation because I am going to list it on ebay and want to make sure I represent it correctly. Also, what other vehicle would this box be correct for? Chevelle, Nova,...?
Thanks,
Steve

Okay...I cleaned up the cap better and it is hard to see if the number after the 255 is an 8 or a 3. (It could have been a lightly tapped 8) The day stamped on the case is 249. Is there a way to tell what year the casting was done?
