Here is a pic of the rear axle code of my 69 Camaro. This is axle and the date codes match up. My car is a 69 Camaro Pace Car with numbers matching drivetrain with a Powerglide and a 10-bolt rear. My rear axle is a posi unit and has a 3:08 ratio. The PG code shows as being a non posi rear so I am inclined to think that the posi may have been dealer installed. I purchased the car from the original owner who claims she did not add the posi to the car and that it had it when she bought it new. Any ideas on what looks like it could be a partial stamping near the axle code? Is this even a stamping at all?

Hello I have a 69 Pace Car 350/300 with the BL axle code. It is for a Non posi 3.08. I also have a posi and three previous owners deny having installed a positrac.
Hope this helps

I've seen other axles with a stamp or two on the tubes in various places.
I pulled up some more PG axle data. Several in other 69 cars, all are non-posi.

BL is a common axle in a SS. It is a non-posi code. I've seen lots and none have ever had a posi factory installed.

Is there a way to tell the difference between a dealer installed posi and a factory unit?

I believe the carrier has a date code somewhere...
