i just received an R-89 battery topper. I have two questions. The caps are not installed on the battery topper. In which position should the "Delco Eye" be placed? And, the embossed raised "DELCO ENERGIZER" lettering on the topper is black. Was this lettering supposed to be black, or red, or yellow...?
Thanks,
Steve

I have looked up several pics on the internet and I have seen the DELCO EYE on the 3rd place from the left and the 2nd from the end. Was there a correct position or was it placed whereever the installer felt like it?

You do realize the R89 battery was never used in a Camaro.

R for red on the letters. See the pics.

From the link that Kurt referenced in his previous post are the following excerpts:
Battery Usage
"67, 68, and early (pre-May) 69 L6, 307, and Z28: The standard battery was the Delco Y55."
"67, 68, and early (pre-May) 69 327, 350, 396, and 427: The standard battery was the R59."
My question is, did the 327/210 Hp variant get the R59 battery or was R59 usage limited to the L30 327/275 Hp engine? I would have thought that the 327/210 Hp engine and the 307/200 Hp engine would have used the same battery.

One would think so, but the 307 was smaller cubes, so it got the smaller battery.

Thanks Kurt

Rich,
I added a sentence in the battery info explaining that it all depended on displacement.
Thanks!
