Title: 67 Master Cylinder
Post by: Daral on October 05, 2007, 01:18:36 PM
What casting numbers were used on the master cylinder of a 67 with power drum brakes?  Mine is 5460465 and has a BS stamp.  I think this decodes to a 67 Firebird with power drum brakes but I know of another 67 Camaro with the same casting number and stamp.  Did they use this casting number on both Camaros and Firebirds?

Thanks

Do you believe this mc could be original to the car?  Can you see/read the date code on the mc if one is there?  What is the build date on your car again?

The build date on my car is 01B (2nd week of January 67).  The date code on my M/C is 341 which I think is December 7, 66.  That would be reasonable for my car.  I do not know if the MC is original but I suspect it is.  I have receipts for the work done on my car by the previous owner dating back to 1975.  I suppose the M/C could have been replaced prior to 1975 but that doesn't seem realistic since at most it would have been 8 years old and they rarely go bad.
