Title: 68 Big Block Heater box Assembly
Post by: ironman24 on August 07, 2007, 10:34:16 PM
Hi all,
I have a friend who has a 68 with a big block.  The car Originaly had a small block in it.  He would like to change the Heater box assembly to the Big Block version.  My question is..... what is needed for this switch?  Can he just buy a bi block heater cover and bolt that in? or do the hoses need to be changed since they are moved to a different location.  I guess what im trying to ask is..... on the inside of the box is there any parts that he will need, or is it just as simple as changing the cover and hooking the hoses back up. Would he need a new heater core???

thanks,
charlie

Yes, he'll need a new big-block heater core, blower housing, core pipe seal and retainer, and the seal that goes on the inside to cover the small-block core pipe opening in the firewall; he can use the existing hoses - just shorten them a bit.
