Title: 1969 am-fm radio
Post by: fireZ on August 02, 2007, 07:16:44 PM
Will a 1969 camaro radio install correctly into a 1968 camaro and what are the differences between them?

Correctly?  There are appearance differences -so if originality counts...

Take a look here:
http://www.originalcarradios.com/Chevrolet.htm#Camaro
You can click on the 68 and 69 am/fm pictures and get a larger picture (and without the "sold").  You can plainly see the differences.

Back in the 60s, we use to rip out the original radios and you could put almost anything in its place as long as the face plate covered the holes.  That's why we have to pay $875 plus S&H now.

No you cannot get the 69 radio to fit the 67-8 dash, and vice-versa. The nosepieces are shaped to the fit the dash for each year................RatPack.....................

Plus the mounting is different with 67-8 having two screws that go through the steel dash and into the face of the radio and the 69 having nuts that go over the tuning/volume shafts

heh, heh, heh...I said nuts and shafts int he same sentence

So the 67 AM/FM I snagged from the yard 25+ years ago is now worth $875 restored? WOW! I paid $5 for it.
