Title: Website not secure
Post by: 68camaroz28 on July 31, 2024, 11:08:56 PM
We have a website for a car show we do each year and noticed on our website we had a "not secure" notice with a triangle in front of the statement. We had the same issue and had to pay a yearly fee to protect our website. Why does our beloved CRG website have "not secure"?

I don't see "not secure" on my desktop. But I cannot view the forums from my phones. Always get "error 403 forbidden".

Two things can cause that, Chick.
1- The web site is using http:// instead of https://
CRG is using http:// so a web browser will flag it as 'Connection is not secure'.
2- The web site has an expired SSL certificate. CRG is not using an SSL certificate being it is not running https://

Now I see it. But lately the site takes a while to load, and sometimes I have to refresh for it to load. It will say 508 Resource Limit is reached.

You aren’t kidding!  Last few days CRG forum pages have been very slow to load.

I figured sooner or later Kurt or someone would explain what has gone tilt.

Says not secure on my desktop also. If I click on it it says,

Your connection to this site is not secure.
You should not enter any sensitive information on this site, (for example passwords or credit cards), because it could be stolen by attackers.

Thanks Mike and yes what we had to do for our local car show website was purchase a SSL certificate which I was told can very in cost depending on size of website.
And agree with everyone that noted the CRG has been very slow to load especially when first entering.

It also doesnt help the fact that at the time I am posting this that there are 970 "guests" on the forum.  IE bots.  This is most likely why you are seeing the "resource limit reached"..  That's just a guess on my part.  Also interesting to see that the "most online ever" was just yesterday at 1246..

I brought this up in March under Site Comments / Discussion and was pretty much told it was a user setting (which it is not). This could cause exposure to the users and causes a lot of grief for logging in on a PC for me.

I wasn’t going to say anything, but that number doesn’t come close to passing the smell test.  I know 1st gen Camaros are popular, but 1154 guest???  Really??

I wonder of these numbers aren't on the rise due to all the AI bots scavenging posts to update their large language model engines.

I was off for a few days but every request takes time to load and continually told this evening "resource limit reached." Something has really changed.....

So glad everything seems to be working in the 'back-to-normal' configuration this morning. Thanks to whomever made the changes to get this to happen.

Hopefully with the change we will be able to access the site on mobile network rather than just wifi. Thanks to core members for doing what you do here.

I'm still seeing issues. I've raised the problem with the hosting service. They are supposed to be working on it.

Guess I'm lucky. Other than slow loading, I have had very minimal issues.

The host doesn't provide much information, but after the site went down for a day, the forum is much faster. I'd say back to normal. BTW, down to 198 guests.

If your not secure with a  SSL certificate , google will lower your search engine ranking.

The past few days…….and today.

Resource Limit Is Reached

The website is temporarily unable to service your request as it exceeded resource limit. Please try again later.

We are aware that there are problems. It is kind of beyond our control.  We will try to get it fixed ASAP.

The main site seems OK, but the Forum is very slow.

If you refresh your screen after the message, you go right in.
