Hey, since this is my first post, I would like to say "Hello" to all the camaro fanatics in here. I am sure I will be lurking around a lot when it get time to start tearing into my barn find.
Here is the info. What I would like to know is how rare is this combination Int Color/Ext Color w/ Black top. I have yet to see a specimine like it.
Vin #124379N6****
ST69 12437 NOR 328*** BDY
TR 720 72B PNT
05C 33x
I found the car in Nov 06. I hadn't been licensed since 1982.

Hi and welcome -
Take a look at this link:
http://www.camaros.org/exterior.shtml#ColorPercentages
It's the best info we have on exterior colors so far. :)

There is a twin to it in Milwaukee.

How about posting a picture... I'd like to see what the black top looks like!

Here's what that color combination looks like:

What do you think? Do you like it?

To be honest, from CBR9SeaDoo's description I have some questions about the look of the 72 paint with the black vinyl top and the look of the 720 interior with that exterior combination. I'm not trying to say anything bad about it. I'm actually intrigued by it. That would bring a whole different perspective to our discussion of vinyl tops:

CBR9SeaDoo, I really would like to include some pictures of your car in that discussion.
Paul, I do like the look of your Ebay example. It's sort of the same look as my 76 MGB. (Sometime in the 70s MG red started looking a lot more like orange.) But according to the cowl tag for that car it is TR713, not 720 and 67B not 72B. It is that TR720 and 72B combination that has me intrigued. I've never seen it.
-
Hey,
I have to resize all my images. I will try and get that done so you can see it. I will also have to go unwrap the car and get a pic of the cowl tag for you.
LakeHolme - You are seeing the same thing as I did. I have yet to see another TR720/72B combination.

Paul, to me it looks like the stripes on the D80 spoiler are painted wrong. I don't think they are suppose to wrap around.

Here we go. I am going to try and attach a few pics.

Here is another.
Remember....this car hasn't seen the road for 25yrs.

You're correct. The stripes on the header panel are painted wrong also. It looks like a Chevelle. :(

Very cool! 8) 8) 8) That's the first one I've seen with those colors. Are you going to restore it?

Paul
My plan is to restore it to its original condition, but I am really interested to see how rare it is. I am still in shock that I was able to find something like this in a barn.

CBR:
Very nice find! is it all there? engine, tranny etc etc

I restored one with the same colors in 2001 (wish that I hadn't) that I owned for about 4 years. Extremely good looking combination. Last I heard it was in NJ.

As far as I can tell it is all there. The DZ302 was out of the car on a stand next to it. The tranny was in the trunk. I brought it home and wrapped it up for the winter, so I really didn't have time to look at all the dates/numbers that are on the car. I am afraid to unwrap it, cause then I am going to want to start working on it. I have a 67 Mustang that I have to finish first.

Tim,
That combo comes off very well. I was afraid it would just be too orange. But I like it!
Still like to see a picture of the tag --when you get a chance.
Would you mind if I posted or would you mind posting your pics in this thread:

I'm trying to get as much info and as many perspectives as I can on vinyl tops.
BTW, sell the mustang ;) and work on the Camaro ::) ! That's what I did... ;D ;D ;D

Here is a ragtop with that color combo. Can't see the tag but just a couple pics to look at. http://cars-on-line.com/27617.html

how did you find the car?did you find it through word of mouth,or through a local want ad etc.
-
When looking at the number three picture of the eBay car, item #320110448608, the front left Camaro emblem blends into the black stripe. Is this the correct placement for the emblem?

Someone actually listed it in the classifieds. The ad said "69 camaro rag top for sale". I called my buddy and we went and looked at it right away and when they opened the shed door and we both just about crapped. From the ad I was thinking convertable, not 69 Z28 w/a vinyl top.

Wow, what a striking combination ! Hugger Orange inside & out !!
When was this orange hounds tooth deluxe interior offered on non-Indy Pace Cars? Early, mid, or late builds?

Steve,
The trim tag is on the first post. The 3rd week of May 69.

It was available for all cars at the same time. About Feb. 69.
It would appear that the pacers drove it's availability.

This orange/orange/black convertible is not original, nor was it originally a Big block. The a/c evaporator housing is from a small block. Houndstooth wasn't available in convertibles except for the pacecars, I beleive both the orange and yellow houndstooth was announced as being available in Feb or 69 for coupes only.
-
I like that color combo. Where in Minnesota was this car?

Good catch Mark. All cars here means all coupes and the Indy pacers. :)
