68 w/o tilt, does it have a spring between the cancel cam & steering wheel hub? I've looked in the parts book & the assm manual. My research was inconclusive. Thank you, Joe

Here is a diagram.

Yes.
Photo of mine Std Z28 floor shift NON tilt column
While the Diagram above clearly shows Piece number "one" the steering wheel retention nut, it lacks the info on the spring, and insulator, rotating contact, etc, etc.

Thank you for the picture. It's what I needed. The diagram I had but too generic......Joe

It's not real clear but it's there.

Hogdaddy, I see now. It must've been serviced in a kit according to that grouping. Thank you, Joe

Weird, ?? that Can not be it. Look to the Right, this spring we are discussing is NOT stacked below (i.e. to the left) the Wave washer, Flast Washer and C clip.
The spring in questions Sits on top of the clip & washers.
Piece #7 is the Upper bearing assembly, ALL items shown in the parentheses are considered part of the bearing assembly fully assemble and NON separable.
Could this be a drawing error?

Anybody have a lenght of the spring? I found one that's 3/4 inch & I think that's too short....Thanks again, Joe

Is thatspring about 1/4" wide and has a few bends? About 3" long?

I think it should be 1.01" x .77ID according to something I found in some older parts book. Can anybody confirm that please? Thank you....Joe

Spring Type: Compression
Spring End type design: Closed & Ground
Wire Diameter: 0.100"
Free Height: 1.100"
OD: 1.000"
ID: 0.750"
Maybe McMaster-Carr 9657K324
In my mind the Steering Column Drawing has the "Spring" in the incorrect location. As seen in FIGURE 24 & Based on the ID/OD of the spring it sits on top of the Wave washer/Thrust washer/Retaining Ring. & based on how I just took my Column apart & reassembled a few minutes ago.
Minor Point I suppose no real issue

Thank you Jim. I still have some more boxes to dig through.....Joe
