Need help decoding body tag. Next to 4L on body tag is a hole punch from factory. What is it? Build date for car is 7B. Possibly end of production. Might have had 2 4`s intake. Will send pics if necessary.

Here's an old and brief thread where a trim tag hole on a 67 was discussed. There may be more old threads.

Pics are always helpful. No Camaro left the factory with a 2x4 intake regardless of the year of manufacture. That setup was only available over the counter. There are a lot of rumors out there claiming differently, but there is no verified truth to any of them.

What help do you need?

Any help at all would be greatly appreciated. We`re trying to figure out how to value the car before a roll cage is put through the factory dash. It`s actually an extremely nice drag car that even has carpet in the floor, ignition and trunk with key and all stock glass windows, only the hood is fiberglass. It`s a back half car that can still be restored to all of her former glory. Same owner for 50 years. I want to take the next step toward owning the car or modifying it.

I would post pictures of trim plate and car 1st. Also is any of the original drivetrain with the car. Also see if the warranty book is still around. The reason i say this I looked at blue 67 z28/rs abought 30s year ago that had been stolen in 1969. The insurance company found it sold to a guy who drag raced for years and he still had the warranty book but all the original drivetrain was gone. I still wish i had bought because had a great body except for the mini tubs.

No original drivetrain or upholstery, but here`s a pic of the trim tag in question.

Which raises more questions as the rivets obviously are not factory. Does the tag even belong to the car? It might help if you post the VIN.

Also check the hidden vins.. Tag is for an original Granada Gold exterior and Custom Gold interior. Should have had a console and interior & ext trim options. Please share more photos of the overall of the car. You can email them to me as well. Tag appears real just suspect on whether or not it came on that body.

There was a 67 Z/28 here in Tucson that was destroyed when it hit a palm tree on Speedway Blvd. It was Granada gold with gold costom interior. The owner took the tag of & attached it to a rally sport body & sold it years later. Is this the car you have?...Joe

The tag appears ok. The hole near 4L is probably not significant. There are known similar punched tags (not limited to 4L). Does the VIN tag and hidden VIN match? What are they? That info will help others help you.

VIN range for 07B/NOR151046 N250xxx-N251xxx.

I`ve been aware of the car since 1971, directly affiliated with the car since 1977. In approximately 1972 we changed the body data plate, front grills and doors to 1968 nonZ28 to compete in IHRA modified Production with more CID. I found the original data plate behind the dash during a 1997 upgrade and reinstalled it. Partial VIN under cowl is the same as Jam VIN. Maybe theses pics can help.

Vin matches trim tag pretty well. About a week off give or take but certainly viable.. I would run the vin through the musclecardocs (NCRS) and see when it left the plant and which dealer. If the story is true (not saying it isn't but you always have to be cautious) then it appears you have a real Z but more info is still need just to cross the T's and dot the i's if you will. Can you send me high res photos to my email in my sig? Looks like there is a plate blocking off the cowl plenum duct opening on the firewall above the heater box but hard to tell. Also photos of the firewall itself especially the area around the distributor.

Nice to see that the hidden and vin tag look like a match. However, a red flag for me is no power brake booster. I know, a lot of stuff could have been removed for racing, that's why I'd now suggest contacting Jerry MacNeish for verification. These are his specialty.
Hopefully congrats are in order. It would be great to see another one verified and existing!
