Hi everyone, new to the group. I have purchased a 95% restored 69 SS It has American Racing wheels on it now. 225-60 15"x7" with a Back space of 4.25 on the front. 245-60 15"x7" with a Back space of 3.75 on the rear. The front tire inside rubs the tie rod end grease boot just a little. The rear tire has no rubbing at all. I want to purchase Rally wheels and tires. I would like to know what the Back spacing measurements were on an OEM factory wheel so I can figure out what size to buy.

The factory wheels would be 14x7 with a 4 3/8" backspace.

Thank You Doc,
I would like to run 235-60-15 on all 4's How does one figure out what size wheel and tire combo to buy without it rubbing?

I owned a 69 Z/28 back in the late 80's, early 90's. It had 15x7 ralley wheels all around, with (I believe) 4" back spacing. jt

According to the posting below, JohnZ had a problem with the front tires rubbing on his original 1969 Z28 with 235-60-15 tires, so he switched to 215-65-15 tires:

Jesse, what size tires did you have on those 15x7 on your Z
-
They were 245/60X15's on the rear, 235/60X15's on the front, 15X7 rims all around.
Here it is (wearing those tires/rims) just before I sold it in 1992(!), and the day I bought it in 1981. jt
Sorry, don't know how to rotate the pics ;D
