I know it sounds like a dum question, but I’m currently looking an x33 and the clock is not in the dash. It is optional, just thought they all came with one. Can someone clear this up for me?

A clock only [U35, $15.80] was optional for those cars built w/o special instrumentation [U17] which included it. Yes, all the cars you see with U17 and no clock are incorrect.
Later in the model year, a tachometer [U16] was added as an option. A smaller fuel gauge occupied the space where the clock would be mounted.

The clock could be ordered as a seperate option but, if you ordered tach/gauges, it was part of that option. I see lots of cars that people put the tach/gauges in but don't install the clock....Joe

Thank you for the quick responses!!! if the car was built in May, and it has the U17 (console with gauges), and the tach and still not have the clock? I have been looking at the options pdf file and is more confused.

Nope. U17 included the clock.
What probably happens is the plastic dash housing gets replaced, new one is not cut for the clock. The reproduction I bought wasn't and it is a bit nerve wracking to cut it without scratching it. Since the clock doesn't work and the stem is usually broken, easier to just leave it off.
From the PDF:
Gauges (U16 or U17): The U17 gauge option was an option on any V8 car and required the ordering of a console. It included the tach, clock, fuel, oil, amp, and temperature gauges.
