69 Camaro SS with a 396. Could an M22 be ordered with a 3.73 gear?

Rear axle ratio was not a direct factor.

M22 only available on Z/28, L78 SS, COPOs 9560 & 9561.

As Bill said.

If you met those, yes could be ordered with 3.73 no problem.

I know of a 68 L78 with 3.55 and M22.

If not mistaken there is a 68 L78 with M22 and a 3.08 or a 2.73.

Yes two with 3.07 - very unusual that they would be ordered that way.

I agree, it had to have been a slug from a standing start... and the top end would have been way faster than I would want to go, especially given the tire tech

3.08 gear in a Firebird/TA with a 27 inch tire gets light in the front at 5500. And it’s a little over 140.

“'Cause if I had a set of wings, man I know she could fly“

Run it too long and a 400 Pontiac won’t have enough oil drain back from the top end. The crank main bearings get starved. Don’t ask how I know. Found out there is a way to fix that problem though.
