Title: DZ block with partial vin
Post by: BULLITT65 on December 18, 2021, 05:56:59 PM
I saw this ad on BAT for a late 69Z for sale it has a transplanted DZ block from June with partial vin that appears to be 19N*83008. Maybe you guys can have a look and see it more clearly than I can. I was thinking 19N683008 ? So it would be for a VIN 124379N683008.
thoughts?

Yes with an 0604DZ stamping - first digit would need to be a 6

The same car has a M21 with partial VIN 19N646297, perhaps for the guy with VIN 124379N646297.🙂

With the VIN 124379N683008, would this DZ block have originally been installed in a Z/28 built in September 1969?
On average, about how many weeks prior to the build date of the car could the engine block have been cast and the engine assembled?
Would a mid April cast date and an early June engine assembly date be reasonable?

Most engines in that timeframe are closer. But there's a Sep 69 Z within 30 units that has the same 0604 block date.

Most are closer but there are known cases with that much of a spread between casting and assembly.
