Title: Cowl Induction Solenoid
Post by: Bigfish45 on October 05, 2021, 03:57:12 AM
I'm seeing two different cowl induction solenoids on the internet for 69 Camaro. Both have the same P/N stamped in them DB1114427. But, one has the actuator arm installed horizontal and the other one has the arm installed vertical. Which is correct or does it matter? Please see attached photos.

I am just guessing that the arm spins freely, you can twist it with finger pressure, the bigger problem I have with my repop sol was the Diameter was smaller than orig and the clamp holder was not happy with the smaller diameter and clamping force was a problem, but it was years ago.

The diameter of an original solenoid is ~ 1-3/16"  and the orientation is 'vertical' like the second of the earlier photos posted.

The arms are threaded on, so no it does not matter.

I prefer to run a known good used original GM part for that application as the repros were not great when I tried one. The travel was short and they were pretty flimsy on the repros.

Common GM part used on 70's Corvettes.  Same part number without the added "69 Z/28" markup.

All 73-74 vettes & perhaps a couple years newer also used the solenoid flap on the hood.

IF you put up a wanted ad on the C3 boards over on Corvette Forum - someone will offer you one.
