The 1968 and 1969 AIMs call out PN 3916654 for the Camaro By Chevrolet header panel emblem however Fisher body used a similar emblem on the trunk lid during body assembly under PN 7752901. Its been said that the difference in the emblems is in the PNs only as one is for Fisher and the other for Chevrolet's use. The emblems are very similar in many ways including the width, height, style, paint detail and pin locations. There is however a clear difference in the "By Chevrolet" plate side profiles. Fisher installed 7752901 on the trunk lid which has a different slope than the header panel regardless of the D80 option required trunk lid emblem placement. Seemingly to accommodate the difference in the slope of the trunk lid vs header panel, the side profile (of the "By Chevrolet" plate) was angled on the 3916654 version of emblem. Once you compare an original trunk and header emblem the side profile difference is clear. This is a judged item in Vintage Certification however not Bowtie or Legends judging to my knowledge.

Great info Lloyd! It's all about the details!

This was very informative, confirmed other info. I had read about the different part numbers. But really didn't know about the profile differences. Great bit of knowledge here, thank you for the research and posting.

Welp, here goes the eBay prices on original 3916654 emblems. Get em while they're hot!

There's usually a good supply of NOS 3916654 Header Panel emblems around and it's also being repro'd. There's even an NOS version of 3916654 with the "funky B" casting defect. The 7752901 Trunk Lid emblems are not being repro'd however used ones are often available on eBay. In my experience NOS examples of 7752901 don't come up for sale very often however I've had nice used ones re-chromed with good results.

Here's something else to throw into the pot. Not all the NOS 3916654 emblems are tapered. Looked at 2 this morning that are not....Joe

Great info Lloyd - I knew there was a difference however had not researched the part numbers etc.
-
Yea I had the funky b in my build info and the differences. I got hit on that at Nationals and most later service replacements have that messed up b.

Couldn't help but notice where the market for nice original, used 68/69 trunk emblems has gone.

Well crap Lloyd, You just made me have to do more work, thx! :D
Looked at all my emblems (3 used 7752901 ones, not usable), 4 NOS 3916654 header emblems with taper. Two Trim Part repros already mounted on car match the 7752901. So now I have to replace the mounted header emblem with the correct NOS 3916654 one and see if I can find someone willing to trade a NOS 7752901 for a couple NOS 3916654. :)

The "C" on the trunk emblem is noticeably wider at the end than the "C" on header emblem.
The other letters also have little differences but not as noticeable from the top view.
-
Here is the same emblem I used Mother's metal polish and Rustoleum satin black paint on.
Has some flaws but not too bad.
-
Here it is pointed out for reference. The NOS one above is the same.
-
Well I'll be........good info. I knew there were differences, but never really noticed. A real eye opener!!! Thanks!!

Little details but who cares about that stuff anyways? : )
