Have a 69 big block 4 speed camaro the clutch safety keeps going bad. Went through two switches in a short time period. When cranking the wires going to the clutch switch are getting allittle warm . Maybe a bad ignition switch ? didnt test the voltage going to the switch yet. Anyone else have the same problem? this is the first time I ever seen a clutch switch go bad. Thanks

There's probably an adjustment on the *position* of the switch relative to the clutch pedal. You want to make sure that the switch is POSITIVELY CLOSED when the pedal is depressed, and OPEN when the clutch pedal is released. If your adjustment is 'just barely closed' when clutch is depressed, then the switch might have a resistive connection, which would make it heat up with the current thru it??
With the key and power OFF, can you measure the resistance across the switch based on clutch pedal depression? Do you FULLY depress the clutch pedal when starting the car?

Good thoughts. The adjustment is the rod . Could be bent alittle?

I believe you can bend the rod to make close more. Also the switch could have corrosion inside...
I typically take all switches(headlamp, ignition, clutch safety, etc) of this type apart, clean the contacts and put electrical contact compound on the contacts and then lube the switch and put them back together.

John;
Had a similar problem ended up replacing the main harness. I never tore into the harness to identify the problem but would bet it was at the fuse block power bus. I'd concentrate there and the terminals internal to the fuse block body. I would take a look here;http://www.camaros.org/forum/index.php?topic=13762.15
