Title: 1968 BW 12 bolt rear axle (4.56)
Post by: Frank350 on September 26, 2020, 12:47:38 PM
I just picked up this 68 12 bolt axle and the stamping says BW.  It currently has 3.31 gears, but from what I read, the BW code stands for 4.56 gears.  What I don't understand, is there is no "E" for Eaton (posi).  A friend of mine suggested that since POSI was mandatory on a 4.56 (which it is) this might be the reason.

I say it's a from a 68 Camaro because it has a November 1967 casting date, and the stamped code says november as well.

...and that 9511 COPO thing, is that a 69 deal only ?  I read all  I could, but it's still unclear (to me).  Does this have more value than just any Camaro 12 bolt ?  Sure the 4.56 guts are not there anymore, but it's a perfectly running 3.31 posi rear...

    Thanks for any help.
