Title: ignition switch issue ???
Post by: 69z28fan on October 12, 2019, 08:16:34 PM
I have a 1969 Camaro 4 speed, when engine is running, turning the key to off doesn't stop the motor. If the transmission is placed in reverse (locking steering column) or the emergency brake is on, the engine stops.  Any ideas???

Is the engine running on/ dieseling when the ignition is off?  Remove the wire to the + side of the coil. It should shut off immediately. If it does, then it is an electrical issue, if not it is a engine tuning issue

Have you done anything in the way of the alternator lately? If it's wired wrong, but car will continue to run with the ignition off.
