Guys, I need your help. Just purchased two "GM NOS RS" fenders on Ebay. Did GM ever produce fenders without the rectangular nutserts pressed into square holes at the hood hinge location? Seller claims that at some point GM did, to save on costs. They do not have the GM parts stickers. (Seller suggests that maybe they were removed as well as any residual adhesive.) There is part of a yellow sticker with an "R" on it. I'm being told this is an "R-DOT" sticker. (Replacement-Dept. of transportation) Would this sticker ever be placed on a Genuine GM part? When placed next to a known NOS fender and a known import, they resemble the repro. The hardware for the Rally set up is smaller and there is an 05 01 stamped where the hood hinge would mount. Still driving my SS350 that I bought in 1977, so I think I know the answers. I need to see what the experts think. Thanks John

Many 'sellers' attempt to pass off repro/aftermarket parts as 'NOS', so without firm evidence that the parts are GM/NOS, then I'd be TOO suspicious to buy...

Many repro body parts are made from thinner metal. Easy to tell there. As for the missing nuts.... I would not accept that as gospel. Sounds like more investigation is required.
Bought a NOS hood once and the GM sticker did fly off easy but it was actually a true GM part so the lost sticker thing is easy for me to believe.

I have three NOS standard fenders in stock, bought directly from my local Chevrolet dealer before they winked out, so they are fairly late production examples. Unfortunately, the 4th RH version was out of stock by the time I found out they were being discontinued, or I would have completed the second set. Also unfortunately, I did not have the Z11 yet, so there was no impetus to buy RS fenders. Hopefully I'll never need to replace the originals -
That being said, note the cage nuts present on these, plus the GM tag, which is glued fairly substantially on the inside of the fender, just back from the opening for the side marker light. I doubt very seriously the statement about removing the tag and all traces of the adheesive, plus I've never seen an R-DOT tag on any GM sheetmetal from GM.
Note: Forgive the dust. These have been in the garage for 32 years collecting dust and cobwebs. The tag is as tight as it was when the boxes came off -

Every '67 NOS fender I have in my shed I bought in the early 80's and they all have the nuts installed, plus the sticker style Steve posted.

Thanks for the responses, keep them coming. Ebay item #202694307015. So has anyone seen an NOS fender without the cage nuts? I have every panel for a '69 except for the roof skin and the left front fender. All but one has the white and aqua blue sticker with the part number. On the other, you can see where the sticker had been.

I was in the biz '83-'97. Be wary of late NOS GM sheet metal. We returned many Camaro fenders/quarters and Chevelle hoods. In particular, '67 Camaro RH fenders and '69 Camaro coupe quarters. Usually so poorly stamped they did not fit. The peak over the wheel well on '69s fenders was way off.
Chevelle hoods are heavy and often had banding or shipping damage.

Stingr69, You have seen NOS without the cage nuts or repro's with them? Purchased 12 years ago and the sticker didn't fly off.

I bought a hood. It was real. Still have it. Sticker flipped off and no trace of the glue. It was old already. Had some light rust from sitting.
Cant help on a fender but I would not buy a NOS fender without the nuts. Just not happening.
