Title: 69 Build Codes ???
Post by: gbowman on January 30, 2019, 03:45:08 PM
Car cowl tag is 04C, engine code is T0425HB. Tranny pan stamp, rear end stamp, sheet metal stamps all correlate correctly. Advertised as the original engine. Any reason it shouldn't be/can't be original to the car? Thanks.

Yes, there is. Restamps are rampant in this "hobby", so you can never take anything as face value. You'll need to post pictures of everything (including the VIN) so we can give you more information.

VIN stamped on the side of the block over the oil filter ? If present, that's a good add-on, sometimes overlooked by fakers. Of course, that's faked, too, but it might help or add to the evidence trail.

Remember what Ed said.
