Hi All -
The vin is 124378L335653. It is presumed to be a 1968 Z/28 with an engine assemble date of V0323MO! :o This information was posted in a listing on craigslist in my neck of the woods. The listing is for a complete '68 302 engine including a 1111467 distributor*. I first saw the listing a couple of days ago, but between field trips, Valentine's Day parties, and coaching duties at my children's school I haven't been able to post the info until now. I'm hoping if the vin is in the database we can locate the owner and put this power plant back where it belongs. Thanks in advance.
*The ad states the date code on the distributor is 8E3, but I'm wondering if it's 8B3?

I was just thinking...ouch! Do the vin and engine assemble date make sense or could this be a scam? ???

No it is not in the data base, and yes the engine date code looks ok for the vin#.

Thanks for checking the database Daniel. I called the guy and supposedly someone is taking the block to have it magnafluxed today. I told him to call me back when he knows the condition of the block and has a price in mind. We'll wait and see... 8)

Hi All -
I never heard back from this guy like he promised. I've been calling him for weeks and leaving messages, but he never replied. Well, I just called him again and he picked up the phone this time. He told me the magnufluxing checked out fine, but the shop that performed the inspection said one of the cylinders had been sleeved. He sold everything for $2800.00! Regardless of the sleeved cylinder, I believe someone got a good deal if the engine was as complete (alternator, distributor, intake, etc.) as he claims. I just thought you guys would like to know. :)
