When was the official "launch date" for the '67 Camaro? I am seeing several contradictory dates, ranging from Sept. 12 -'66 to Sept. 29-'66.

I am not sure if the exact date is known, or if it really makes a huge difference.
Official production started in August 1966 and cars became available at dealerships in late September 1966.
I believe this was the first commercial

"The Great Camaro" lists September 29, 1966 as the dealer introduction date and credits Ward's Annuals and Automotive News Almanacs as sources.

The first press event where it was revealed was September 12. It was available for sale September 29. That's probably where the contradictory info comes from.
It's covered pretty well in the Wiki.

I also thought this was pretty cool background information.

Thanks guys. I've seen a pic. of "Pete" Estes lighting a big Firecracker on Sept. 21 and I've also seen info, stating Sept. 26. I was just wondering if someone here knew the "official" date.
