Title: 5 1/4 in. pittman arm
Post by: dan the man on February 02, 2016, 12:59:36 AM
hello, can anyone describe the correct procedure to measure a pittman arm. I have received 2 arms supposedly 5 1/4 inches. I measured them using 2 parallel    lines c/l of large hole and c/l of stud.I sent the first one back to hbc and they sent another just like the first one. WTF, does anyone know where the measurements are centered to? Does anyone have one that measures 5 1/4 in center of hole and center of stud? Waiting for some clarity. Thanks--------------------Dan-the-Man

Measured center of hole to center of stud.

Are you wanting quick steering?  If so, you want the LONG pitman arm and short outer steering arms.

Check this site if you haven't already...

And it's measured 'perpendicular' to the steering sector shaft, rather than on the diagonal... basically it's the length of the moment arm for the steering gear to the point where the steering force is applied.    It would measure longer if measured on the diagonal.
