Anyone possibly have a good picture of the correct routing of the power steering hoses on a 69 Z they wouldn't mind posting?
Over the weekend I've seen some very nice 69 Z's and it struck me as odd that some hoses were routed down behind the driver side motor mount, along the oil pan and up to the PS pump, while others were right there on the frame front and center, straight from the box to the pump.

Let me see if I can get to the garage and snap a few pic. 30" of snow out thee!

Interesting... do you think that might be an indication of which ones were 'factory installed', vs 'installed by owner later'??
-
I can tell you, that mine does not run behind the motor mount!
-
I found a pic on my phone that was taken primarily for the motor mount, but you're welcome to it if you want. Pump is barely visible as is the steering box, but the hose routes down and out of view, and mine is an original PS car.
Only problem is, I have no reception at work so it'll be 4 hours before I can get it to you. PM me your email or phone and I'll get it to you

That's what I was thinking. I'm interested in seeing a factory setup from someone here, to make sure the hoses are routed properly.

Thanks, I was thinking they shouldn't have been that way, and the differences really peaked my interest. When you get time, no rush. Sorry about the snow.

This is why I don't gamble! My power steering hoses run behind the engine stand. There is a clip that holds the two hoses in place. It is held in place with the bottom bolt for the engine stand to chassis. Must have been thinking of the 70. Sucks to get old.

Here is a pic from another CRG thread.

Okay, that is what I was seeing, thanks Steve and Dale.
Is there just that wire clip that holds the 2 hoses together or is there another clip or bracket that uses one of the engine stand bolts? Something possibly to hold it still?
-
Nothing else just the clip at the steering box cap bolt to hold the pressure line and the wire holder for the return.
-
This is a picture of my original P/S hoses when I first pulled my engine and transmission off my sub-frame. It's a 350 SS car, but P/S is identical to the 302 Z/28 cars.
-
Just for the record, my 67 ss350 is routed the same
-
I'll have to check for the engine mount bolt clip on my car.
-
That's it! I wish I could take pictures like that. The bottom clip is similar to the one that holds the heater hoses.

Thanks guys,
With all the help from Steve, Dale and Buddy, I know now that the longer hose setups behind the motor mounts are correct. The short hose style setups I was seeing must be some add on or aftermarket kit from somewhere. Man you guys are on it, I appreciate the quick response and willingness to send pictures and set that straight for me.

Are big blocks the same?

If we are talking 69's, then yes, this setup is virtually the same. The pump, hoses(pressure only?), and, of course, the pump mounting brackets are different, but the routing of hoses and the clips pictured are the same as pictured.
