I see this as a way to take those Dynacorn, etc...type bodies and create legal, titled new Camaros or whatever name the business will have to use since GM owns the rights to the Camaro name. At least the value of some parts not repopped will go up. And, likewise, parts that are not made, may start being made.

Been done for years and registered as kit or composite cars. Build a car, get an inspection and an assigned VIN and go. People have also been using original cars with VINS for decades, using them as a platform and handcrafting the entire car. That place makes it sound like nobody ever built a quality car how they wanted until now. This is where the expression "built, not bought" applies.

The model year will be whatever year it is when you apply for title. In Indiana they issue an MVIN....Manufactured Vehicle Identification Number. Some representative designated by the local BMV (in my case an Indiana State Trooper) will inspect to verify proper stamped numbers in the correct places, and possibly other items that they don't necessarily mention, then you're good to go.

I may be wrong, but to my thinking, if a factory is set up to now build turnkey cars, wouldn't that car now come with a VIN and title, just like a major manufacturer? Would that not eliminate the need to get a car inspected that is a "kit" car, because now the 'kit' is finished? Would this now qualify these factory built cars to allow a factory built "special" homologated drag car (50 or more at least that is what it used to be) that can, like today's Chevy COPOs, qualify to run in NHRA class? I can just imagine a resurgence in Hemi Darts and ZL1 Camaros, of course, with emission compliant drivetrains. I see this as a boon to the car hobby.

I believe you are correct, my experience was a one-off situation but a manufacturer would no doubt issue VIN's as a complete vehicle

Thanks Phil, I did just read that. SO a '67 Camaro could be built but has to have a new engine that passes emissions. As I understand PA. law that would require a reconstructed or special serial number tag, just like a kit car.

This is opening a can of worms. One should be able to then get VIN's assigned to cars sold with Bill of sale only. As in factory racers and prototype cars?

So Phil, just thinkin'. Will AACA call these REAL cars or 35c's in 25 years??

I'm guessing 35c in 25 years, just like the Ford Shays. Some may be ruled out as kit cars. And all will have to request AACA certification to be "legitimate".
But don't you think some models like the "new" Deloreans to be made out of NOS parts are going to raise a whole new set of issues?
And being as we have 25 years to think about it, a new class may be added under 35.
As far as new First Gen Camaros, think about how expensive it will be to build a new car in limited numbers!

I know the official theory of AACA is that Shays and Avanti 2's are reproduced cars, but they were both sold as new cars by dealers. Our local Ford dealer sold them. My thought is that AACA is painting themselves in a corner. I've been told by the big dog I don't understand. I agree, I don't, but he can't explain it either.

Good point. But as long as it is covered under the Guidelines, it is an "okay corner"....
Only about 10 cars (15 if you count repeats) showed up at a meet under all of class 35 a, b, and c in 2015. Not a big issue...
We had that many First Gen Camaros alone at Charlotte, and at that point no Camaro class. I'm thinking the new Camaro classes will increase participation.
