Title: 69 BB Radiator 3017838
Post by: HawkX66 on November 12, 2015, 08:04:40 PM
I could use a hand decoding this radiator that I have. The number comes back as correct for a 69 Camaro Big Block auto and it fits correctly, but after that the codes have me at a loss... Thanks for any help.

Radiator 3017838 (also 74K on the part # tag)
Tag Code "S"

It appears to be a GM replacement radiator. I found the radiator tag number 3017838 is listed in the 67-60 GM Camaro parts book as a replacement part number for a 69 396 with auto trans radiator.

Replacement makes sense. The number is definitely for a 69 bb auto, but the rest of the codes have me confused.

Agreed. GM replacement.

Thanks Kurt. I wonder what it's worth. I don't want to run an auto radiator in my 4 spd car. Functionally not an issue, but... I'd rather sell it and pick up the right radiator even if it's a/m.

GM serviced the manual and auto trans applications with one radiator - one less part to inventory.
Not worth much, IMO. You'll have to find the right person who wants extra cooling and original style, but not originality.

Thanks Kurt. I'll just hold on to it then. That's what barns are for right? My kids will find it in 30 years and it'll be eBay gold.
