Hi Everyone,
I am new to this web site, but not new to First Generation Camaros. I bought a 1968 RS/SS convertible that I have had my eye on for 25 years. I was told it's a numbers matching car. I didn't verify this but, when it came up for sale, I jumped on it. This is my 6th First Generation, but I Hot Rodded the other 5!!!
I have a few question's, if you all would be so kind to chime in. I know the original color is Corvette Bronze. How important is it to make it that color again?? I have not checked the Engine, Trans, Or Rear #'s (12 bolt). I hope to have more info from that stuff in a week or two. The other question I have is about the convertible top. What are the correct terms for the the top and parts.
I will have a lot more questions, for sure!!
Thanks,
Dean

Welcome to the Club and congrats on buying the correct year.
Reapinting back to the original color is worth a buck or two, as Corvette Bronze was very few and far between.
Verifying a '68 is kindda hard, but having documentation helps, and more important is the POP plate as it has 'born with' options listed.
Other here more pronounced, will help answer your questions better than I can as I am learning from the experts here.

Welcome to the group corvette bronze is great looking color! Big block or small block car 4speed or automatic car. I love 68's the best.

I agree. I've had my bronze car for 38 years & love the color....& the car. The problem is finding someone who can mix it correctly...Joe

It's a small block car. I will post some pics in a couple days. It's to damn cold here in MD to pull the car out today. Thanks for the feedback.

Dean,
I recommend repainting original color. Also, do you know about the MD Camaro Club? Based in Clarksville, MD. Great club.

Hi Folks,
Happy Holidays and thanks for the feedback. I have not had the chance to post pic's. We did have a nice day last week here in MD, and took the car for a spin, and it was great!! I am so looking forward to doing this project. It looks like I will be doing some new body parts ( door skins ) and a few other small things. Driving a Convertible is so cool!! No Mike I will not Hot Rod this one!! All the the #'s match so far, I have had 5 and never had a protecto plate and all the history that this car has!!
My first thought was to Tub it, Slam it, and drop a blown 502 in it and be the coolest car around. But my son insists it stay's all original.
Thanks,
Dean
