Title: 1969 radio delete plate and speaker carboard
Post by: zman1969 on September 06, 2013, 02:55:08 PM
I have added a late model radio and installed it in the glove box and was planning on adding a radio delete plate in place of the AM radio. My car has the woodgrain accents and the detete plate I have is just black plastic, would an original have the woodgrain? and even if not I would like to add it so it matches the driver side. also does anyone have pictures of the speaker blockoff cardboard and installed?  thoughts?

Yes, if you had a deluxe interior, or style trim car it would have wood grain over it.  There was a wood grain plate that went over and  bolted thru the black radio delete plate for those cars.

I will email you a pic on one kind of installed. It was on a 9600 mile car I had but it had fallen down. I tried to post it but as usual this site only allows little pics.

Hey Mark, on the bottom plate in your pic, what do you recommend for hardware? I'm doing the same as Rich is in my Z. I have the wood rosewood plate but no hardware. I can't seem to find anything in my hardware bins that isn't too fat so I don't crack the bosses. AMK doesn't have that part number that's noted in the 69 AIM.

This is what the factory used.

I'm sorry Mark,,,,what do the threads look like? They aren't fat and then taper to a point on are they or are they kind of like a lag screw not tapered?

What's different with the bottom cover in the above pic and the cover in your last pic? Mine looks like your above pic with the wood grain on it. I suspect a Repro now. I was told it was OEM.

I've never seen the screws, thats not my plate.  As far as i know theres no difference in the first and second pictures, the plate is the same, its just been drilled to accept the woodgrain cover plate that went over the black plastic delete plate in the second picture.
