I sent you a PM.. Here is some info...
DELCO ENERGIZER Y55 Reverse Top Post battery. 60's Z/28. Battery is not reproduced by any companies. It is sometimes called reverse polarity, but I think that is incorrect. Posts are reversed, not the polarity. Just like a regular battery with the posts flipped. It has the hot side post on the fender side. So it grounds on the Radiator support instead of the hole in the side of the right inner fender. Pre about 1973/4 has the embossed ENERGIZER present. Post that time it is just DELCO only. Assembly line batteries are wet charge batteries. Dry charge batteries are service replacements. Looks like it is used and not NOS? Does it hold a charge?... Danny

Thanks for the info.  I recently bought a 67 Z that’s been off the road since the late 70s and was hoping someone could help me with the date code on this as I believe this is the original battery to the car which is a 06E build.  Whatever electrolyte that was in the battery is now crystallized so it’s for show only at this point.

I am not an expert, but I play one on TV 8) ... This is an original assembly line correct Wet Charge Battery dated what I believe to be October 18th of 1967. I can't see the last digit on the left. And I think that's an 18 on the right, with another digit after it. Hard to see.

Congratulations on the purchase of a '67 Z/28!!! NOW, the next biggest most important questions IS... Does it have the original engine/trans/rear axle??  And is it in the '67 Z/28 Registry? AND can you post some pictures right away please? .. Danny

Thanks again Danny for the info.  Here’s a couple shots of my new project.  The original owner bought the car from Mike Savoie Chevrolet in Birmingham, MI as a gift to himself when he graduated from GMI (General Motors Institute).   He belonged to the Firebirds auto-cross club at school and he ordered the car with some options that would help him be competitive like J56.  He went on to have a great career at GM retiring in the early 2000s as VP and General Manager of the Powertrain division.  It still has the original trans and rear end.  What I really liked about the car is the documentation that came with it.  In the fall of 1968, he complained about excessive oil consumption and fouling of the #8 plug when working at Chevrolet engineering.  He worked at the Tech Center as well as the Flint Engine plant.  He took the car to Flint Engine and they pulled the MO, disassembled and wrote a report of their findings on an internal GM memo.  A separate memo states (Cliff notes version) your engine, serial number xxxx was replaced with a 69 Z28 engine, serial number xxxxx. The car is indeed in the registry as confirmed by Jon and Jerry.

Sounds like that car has a very neat history!  :)

Is the 69 Z28 engine documented on GM letterhead complete with stamping and VIN for the car?   If so, that's better than having 'CE' documentation..  :)

Your date code (7JT) decodes as:

7 - 1967
J - October
T - Anderson, Indiana plant

It was built a few months after your car was built, so it's not original to the car. Could be a warranty replacement though.

Ok, guess not original to the car. I didn't know the date of your car. But still very cool and a nice project you have there. ... Danny

Beautiful color - I love Deepwater Blue!
You really couldn't ask for a much better option combo... J56, 4.10, fold down rear seat, Congratulations and you can color me green with envy... really nice piece!
