RPO-ZL2 Kit

(1/1)

boomer632:
I have the hood and correct air cleaner and seal on my car already, but no operational parts for the induction. Has anyone installed this kit? How difficult was it?

The kit is easy. Punching holes in the body for the wiring, not so much. Usually done during the body work phase.

Stingr69:
You already have most of the kit so why go that route?  The aftermarket throttle switch, solenoid and switch retainer are all junk.  My advice is to go NOS on the switch and retainer.  Find a used Corvette flapper solenoid (same part number but MUCH cheaper).  You need a few repro parts after that but not too bad. The wiring would be set up to install as an accessory so it's easy.  Even with all that, the setup is finicky.  Mine needs to be messed with every so often to stay functional.  At least it's all there.

william:
Common causes for non-op are poor ground at the solenoid [usually too much paint on the frame] and the retaining clip coming off the switch.

The wiring requires 3 holes, covered in the AIM section ZL2 page A5. Careful punching the 3/4" hole above the fuse box; main harness is in the area.
