I was the one who said the 4 digit code was a Firebird shifter.
From what I have seen , the 4 digit code was used on the early OEM Hurst shifters 1964 to 1968/69
All the  1969 Camaro shifters I have seen have the 6 or 7 digit code but it could be that some 4 digit coded shifters were used on Camaros.

I didn't keep track of the 4 digit codes but have a bunch or codes from actual 1969 Camaros .
here are some including the earliest one I have and the latest one I have and some in-between.
The earliest one I can find is Oct 1968 so I don't know when they changed to the  6 or 7 digit code.
Would need more data to find the latest 4 digit code and earliest  6 or 7 digit code

Trans-Am Camaros / Old 1960's AC racing spark plugs

Anyone remember these AC plugs?
The are from 1960s and supposed to be a AC racing plug

the tip is a small diameter like some of the modern plugs

no numbers on the plugs but has 541-CAG on the large box

I couldn't find a listing for that number

General Discussion / distributor mach adv weights

there was a post asking about distributor weights but I can't find it

came across these

the dist shown is a 499 8M28 ,I had for 20 yrs and it was barn fresh then and I never cleaned it or anything
it still has the rubber bumper stop

I think it has original weights and they have holes in them

most of the 1960s weights I have don't have the holes and look the same

the other pic shows some other weights and each are a little different shape
the cad plated ones are aftermarket , I think the others are Chevy

the scotch tape tin is 1940s

Restoration / 67-68 shifter rubber donut

nice item.
The small Muncie shifter parts are hard to find. I had a box of parts from the old days of cutting off the chrome stick to convert for use on aftermarket Hurst shifters and i saved those small parts.

I am rebuilding one now and need the rubber donut.

Anyone have a extra rubber donut that goes on the main shaft between the shifter and the mount plate or know of a source?

Trans-Am Camaros / Spark Plug Wires

I like  the orange spark plug wire. Anyone know what brand they used?

I been doing some research on it and see that AC Delco sold some Packard SS550 Silicone Stainless steel core 7mm orange wire with gray boots some call "L88" wire.
Another wire I see in 1967 articles thay call  "Ramcharger wire" which I think refers to the Ramcharger speed shop wire also 7mm orange steel core but has orange spark plug boots.

My original 1967 Yenko parts list shows a hi temp header wire they list as "AutoLite wire"

I found a roll of Motorcraft wire 7mm orange steel core wire which I think is the "AutoLite wire" that Yenko listed.
I also  found a box of a few sets of 7mm orange steel core wire that has orange spark plug boots.

Originality / 1967 SS steering wheel horn button

I have a 1967 SS horn cap that looks to be original. It looks like the SS-350 cap but does not have the 350, just has SS. I was looking at the CRG steering wheel report and it says
three different horn caps were used with the standard steering wheel and the custom interior steering wheel.

the standard “Camaro” horn button, “SS-350” horn button, and RS horn button.

The CRG steering wheel report says the SS396 used the standard “Camaro” horn button?

Was there also a SS button?

General Discussion / Yenko Volpe Pizzi Rose drag car 1967 Z/28

Does this look like a real Z/28 and is there any way to tell if it is one of the early Zs?

I don’t remember if I posted this picture before on here but I posted it on a few sites. On a drag racing site, a few guys remember Tony Pizzi whose name is on the door.
They said he was a pretty well known engine builder from PA. and had a very strong running 68 Z/28 drag car.

Yenko made a drag racing sponsorship deal with Dick Harrell in March/April of 67 to run a 427 Super Stock Camaro (AHRA) and a Funny Car. So I wonder if this Yenko Volpe Pizzi Rose Z/28 could be one of the 3 early Zs Yenko had.
