Here is what appears to be a 69 Z cowl top spliced onto another bodyshell...

Ad says the cowl tag reads as follows.
Body # 278190
Trim 715
50-50 paint
02D
X-33
The lack of Muncie Firewall piercing and the seam sealer at the cowl well was the first clue...

the description says he installed a new firewall, not the upper cowl. Do repo firewalls have the piercings for the muncie?

There appears to be no deception here. The cowl, jambs and roof rails are white. Inner roof structure as well. He indicated that everything else was replaced. While there is not much left of the shell that is origional, there is also nothing to hide.

The production firewalls didn't have the hole for the Muncie speedo cable exit - that hole was drilled by Chevrolet; the firewall only had the pre-pierced standard speedo cable hole below the fuse block that got a plastic plug on a car with a Muncie.
