Originality / Re: Steel seat back panels
« on: May 22, 2007, 01:10:06 PM »
I have an 07C 1967 car (NOR) with plastic seat backs.  My understanding was that the metal seat backs were a 67 only thing.

If the person who had the engine is correct it is not but there is only 1 digit different in the vin.

That engine has found a home and will never be for sale again.  Azure69z28 is a friend of mine and I was sitting there when he was bidding on the engine.  It will spend it's life between the fenders of an Azure turquoise 1969 Z/28.

I would have to think the F1228YS would be the 65  or 66 engine since the assembly plant code is "F" instead of "V".  I don't remember the date the flint engine plant changed from F to V but I know it had changed by 1967.

I have never heard of a 3892657 block cast past 1967.  I would have to think that the casting date is actually November 9, 1966 and is a 1967 327/210 powerglide for a 67 camaro.

Casting #: 3855961  (2 bolt)
Stamp date: T02I0EDH
Partial Vin: 6F120335

Decoding/Numbers / Re: 68 wheel rim date codes
« on: January 16, 2007, 02:00:30 PM »
Any way to tell what original wheels were on a car? Full or dog dish, or Rally wheels? I want mine to be correct but I have no other info but the cowl tag?

If it is a 67 and has drum brakes it would have come with steel wheels.  If it has disc brakes, I believe it would have come with 14 X 5 rallies coded DA.

Decoding/Numbers / Re: 68 with 67 vin ?
« on: January 16, 2007, 01:54:59 PM »
That vin is a 67 vin and should not be there.  Look for the hidden vin under the cowl vent  and behind the blower motor box on the firewall.

The only 1967 cars I have seen with shoulder belts were small block cars.  I don't believe the shoulder belts were tied with any engine option.

MO and MP are the codes for a 302.  MP being with AIR (smog pump) and MO being without AIR.

General Discussion / Re: Value of 67

If it is an original drive train and top condition, I would expect it to be somewhere in the $30,000+ range depending on options and documentation.  More information would be helpful such as cowl tag, color, etc.

Something don't sound right.  06C is the third week of June not May.  I believe a may built engine could have had either casting.

194
I'm not up on small block 67's which engine block would that have had?

The block should be a 3892657 casting.

Maintenance / Re: broken rocker arm
« on: October 27, 2006, 02:40:00 PM »
If you put a cam in that has more lift, it may open the valve more than the slot in the rocker can handle and it will rip the rocker in half.  Don't ask me how I learned this.
