I am going to look at a 1st gen eater box I believe is from a. Big Block car. I have read somewhere the frame that holds the core is slightly bigger
than a small block box. Can anyone confirm or deny this? Thank you in advance.

To my knowledge the inside housing ( AIM UPC 1/A6 heater & defroster assembly) is the same for BB & SB, just the heater core and retainer is different, plus the large rubber gasket (covered SB tube exit from firewall). The outer heater cover is very different though and it brings the hoses out the middle.

True. The bb inner has a larger mounting area for the heater core.

The exterior dimensions of a non ac BB & SB interior side of the heater box is identical. The same goes for the outer, as well. The inner box is the same, save except the outer vertical heater core panel. It is moved to the right 1/4 inch making the heater core area dimension wider. If time allows, I will get a measurement of both, bbc & sbc/6, inner box widths.

Thanks for the replies. One other small difference on the Big Block box are the dimples on the sealing area by the mounting studs.
