Title: New member with New 68 Camaro Convertible 6-Cylinder
Post by: Sixty8Camaro on November 20, 2014, 12:19:10 PM
Hey Guys,

Though I would share my new baby girl, her name is Dorothy named after my mom that helped me pick up my first 68 Camaro some 30 years ago.

I was on a mission to find a 68 Camaro with a straight six in her and at the time I could only find two for sale in the whole country, so my wife and I drove 900 miles from SW Florida to Florence Alabama for her and then I drove her back. I was a little concerned about the ride back, not really knowing what the true mechanical condition of the car was, and this is why my wife went along just in-case we had to tow her back. Well that was not the case, she ran great and easily cruised at 70-80 MPH. I was so excited about driving her that I kept forgetting to keep track of the mileage, what I did notice though that it seemed I was getting a good 200+ miles before the needle got half way down. Not sure if that's a good gauge as I suspect some cars once they pass that half way point the needle moves a little faster?

Herr are a few pics.

Congrats on your new Camaro! I've been thru Florence a few times in the past. It must have been a nice trip in the convertible.

Snuck under your radar since it is a beautiful shade of red? I like the red line tires, look like radials, to bad the manufacturers didn't keep making the red lines back then, those are  are a great look.( I have a set of dual red lines on my ford. )  :)

I like the Redline tires but had them off to replace the brakes and decided to see how she would look with some BFG's RTA's mounted on some Cragar/SS rims.

What do you guys think?

How could you go wrong with that car? As long as you're not trying to cram a set of 20" wheels in there,  I think you have a great looking machine, but then again I am partial to red.

Welcome, and another 6 cylinder survives. Looks good with either set of wheels, keep both and switch as your taste changes :)
