Per CRG table identified as "1969 Camaro V8 Visible Differences", the Speedometer Cable Firewall Penetration is identified as right (M20, M21) or left (MC1,M40) of steering column for all engine combinations, including the V8 entries.
Per "note 4, 6477216 SPEEDO CABLE - Installs same as RPO M20 with RPO M20 with RPO L34, L35, L48, L78, and LM1."
It seems logical that if the speedo cable into the transmission is on the LEFT side, then the hole left of the steering column is used, and if the speedo cable entry to the transmission is on the right, then the alternate (MUNCIE) hole is used?
It's interesting that apparently the dwg shown in the AIM depicts a transmission with speedo cable entering on the LEFT (stock drawing?).. and perhaps this misleading AIM dwg is why the CRG has the apparent error in the table?
