I heard a whisper that Chick's stunning '68 Z/28 took out a "Platinum Pick" award at MCACN 2018 in Chicago, with a score of 999/1000....
Wow. Not surprised at the award, but how did that single point escape, hmm?
J/K - Congratulations Chick and all those who played a part in such a benchmark restoration project!
-
Wow! Unheard of level of perfection. Congrats.
-
Good deal :)
Congratulations Chick ….Joe

LOL, thanks Tim! Yes, it was quite a weekend and then being picked the best stock Chevrolet among all the other Camaro's, Chevelle's, Nova's, etc. was just great. And you are correct as many people and vendors make up a team on a restoration project. The point deduction was for a very small piece of masking tape found and how I missed it after cleaning that rascal so many times is beyond me. MCACN is a great show and if one has not attended you have to put that on your bucket list.
Thanks again Tim! A link to see what was in the show and we are around 2:15 or so beside that huge Reliable Car Hauler- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b_9zWiWuCC4&fbclid=IwAR2ywBGvPU8bU9QsEU-BacZRUNMIfsP3kFMMOrqvWicRFYdiDXB1po6kAGI

Well deserved, Chick. Great spending time with you at MCACN, as always.
-
Way to go Chick. I still need to come for a visit.

WTG Chick, I think you have set the standard on the CRG for a very detailed and correct resto. I was very impressed with how much time and research you put into getting things right. A great finished product.

No surprise, phenom build, has been my main go to for reference. And always quick with a reply if pm'd.Congrats, well deserved.
-
Good deal Chick, Platinum pick that's awesome. As far as the point deduction, no one scores 1000

Oh my, huge thank you for the kind words to everyone! Much appreciated! As Mike mentioned they do not give out 1000 points as no car is perfect. The judges I've met and had conversations with are an excellent group and much respected.
For all those that have not attended a MCACN show, one of the huge benefits other than the cars, is having some quality time with friends as Jon earlier mentioned. Great show with a lot of greater people. :) Make plans for next year as I bet the 50 year anniversary of 1969 model cars will be Huge!

I put that piece of tape there :-)

The judges must have been pretty danged good to find something you overlooked. Congratulations, I wish my '68 could be half the car yours is. Great job to say the least.

Right on! Good for you, Chick. Thanks for sharing your build and extensive research with us. Your car is a true masterpiece, I recommend seeing it person.
-
Congratulations, Chick!
Now, with the awards behind you, what are your plans with the car...will you drive it outside of shows?
-
I put that piece of tape there :-)
I heard from some other CA friends Charlie you were hanging around the car after hours. Good one! LOL
Here is the piece of tape I somehow missed after how many times of cleaning, etc.

Thanks Mike! This summer late I went to my first AACA meet even though I've been a member for a few years. Great time, cars, and people so plan to continue in 2019 to continue their judging ladder. I'd also like to take the car to one of https://www.hemmings.com/musclepalooza/ events as it seems to be an excellent event. After that who knows but it will be driven sooner or later. Luckily we have something else to drive to local shows and ice cream runs as I tell people all the time to fully enjoy the hobby, one has to drive these rascals.

Like the factory removed all the tape from every car.......
Congrats!

"Like the factory removed all the tape from every car......."
My thoughts exactly.
The car is obviously the pinnacle of Camaro restoration. Impressive, indeed.
-

YOU HAVE TO BE KIDDING. If that's all the judges could find wrong, I'd consider the car a perfect 1000 point car.
Great work -
