Title: Engine compartment wiring
Post by: DeanZ10 on February 25, 2023, 09:24:47 PM
Too many years, so many wires…….
I have 396, turbo 400 with AC
Anyone have a picture of
1. Where to route the compartment wiring…above wiper motor or below.
2. How the kickdown wiring ties into the wiper motor
3. Finally where does the thick pink wire go with female connector

Thank you
Dean

I am new around here, so you may want to wait on conformation the those who know best.

My 68 is wired under the wiper.
Your cable should have a connector that that jumpers of the wiper motor power.
The only pink wire in that area I can remember is the distributer wire that plugs into the + side of distributer cap.

Hope I am not steering you wrong.

Trying not to nag, but this is a great example of the type of inquiry that can be found with a bit of searching on the CRG site.

Kurt, Bryon and others have put in a lot of work to make all the info out there easily accessible.

Not trying to be ungrateful, Do we want to just make an automated response for every question directing them to the AIM? Hope not, I would assume most people have tried searching before asking questions. That’s why I have only ever asked a handful.  I obviously see wiring is routed above the wiper, but was hoping for personal experiences. Under seems neater. I guess I was just asking where these connectors and wires actually live.
As for the large gauge pink wire, please show me in the AIM where it is. I must be simply missing it. Perhaps it’s for an option I have forgotten about.

Thank you GMAD.
I searched this site yesterday for wiper wiring and all I would get is Chick’s z/28 restoration.

Again thank you!

I find the google search on the homepage can be more effective than the forum search function.

Ok, finally found a reference. The pink wire is supposed to be stop idle solenoid. I gather an ac car should have this to increase idle when compressor is energized. Can anyone provide a pic of this installed on a car?
Thanks for the assistance.

My 396 325hp A/C car never had that. The underhood harness I purchased from American Auto Wire matched the original....Joe
