Restoration / Heater Box Finish - Interior

Getting ready to restore the heater box (the interior component with the heater core).  What is the correct finish?  It appears to be textured and flat, much like the top of the dash (PPG Code 9317). 





Recommendations?

My 04B VN Z spare tire YH wheel is dated  K-1-9-1-10 or Jan 10 of '69.  3 months early relative to the build date - I am assuming Jan dates OK for 04B?   The other wheels were replaced in the '70's, but have no reason to believe the spare was changed.   I have managed to find 4 other YH wheels with Jan dates...

Excellent value @ $120.  I probably spent 5X that for a very similar service here in San Diego.

Here's the before and after (note - in the "before" picture, parts of the sheet were torn off and I stored those in an envelope, the paper conservator re-attached them).

Interesting.  I painted the sway bar brackets a semi-gloss black, same color as the sway bar itself which appears to be correct now.   

But the sleeve clamps had light surface rust so I assumed they were natural finish.  I don't recollect seeing any paint remanents.  Easily could have been phosphated as that does not last long.   Also, from the picture posted, the insides appear dark (phosphate).   No chance it could just be the black bushing rubber rubbing off on the inside?   Does it appear the outer surfaces were phospated as well?  I see light surface rust and natural metal, which is why I'm asking.   

No expert, so looking for advice as well.

Here's the date(s) from the gas tank on my 04B Van Nuys '69 Camaro RS Z28:

Fuel Tank:  33 69
Fuel Sending Unit Lock:  31 9

Unfortunately, in order to save the chassis broadcast copy, I ruined the tank (had to cut it out).

Appreciate everyones feedback.   Based on the feedback, it appears the front two brake-subframe brackets were dipped.  That may explain the inconsistent finish that I observed (see second photo in my first post where you can see build up in some areas).  I'm also guessing that the brackets may have had stamping oils remaining on them prior to dip resulting in poor adhesion and overtime this caused some of the paint to flake away.

I'm also concluding the rear axle housing bracket is natural finish as is the brake line bracket.  I looked at brake line braket last night and other than being greasy, does not appear to have any paint anywhere.

Here's a before clean-up picture.  I am guessing the original finish was natural stamped steel, though there are hints of black.   These are for a '69 Camaro with discs, Van Nuy build.

OK, I searched the forums but could not find a clear answer - what is the correct finish for the two subframe brake line brackets and the rear axle brake line bracket?   Here's a picture for reference after I cleaned them up.  If black - satin, semi-gloss, gloss or?   Thanks in advance.

Pictures of my '69 Van Nuys 04B underside as well as the factory green firewall - go figure.   Whatever the paint material was (primar or paint), the underside was clearly black throughout with significant body color overspray.  The car is an original SoCal car - never spending anytime outside of the area.  I found no signs of non-factory undercoating anywhere. 

Regarding the green firewall - my only guess is they ran out of black paint that day and dark green was the closest alternative.

OK.  I was suspecting lateral movement.   Regarding color - if black is correct, easy to fix.  Assume a lower luster black - like "30%"?

Ok, restored and re-installed the sway bar sleeve and clamp assembly over the weekend (the round rubber bushing next to the sway bar bracket).   So what does this thing do??  Prevent some lateral motion/sliding of the sway bar?  Sqeaking??  I don't recall my other GM cars having this ('69 Chevelle).
