Title: Caveat Emptor...block stamp

From the ad:

"The engine is why the Z/28 is so special. The DZ-code 302 cubic-inch V8 shows all signs the right signs for being original to the car..."

Original to the car? I guess he means other than it being a restamp.

Along with the finned rear brake drums.

And the wrong (restamped date code) transmission from what appears to be 9N582538 (?)

Agree it looks like a “5” Ed. Puzzler that it is an April 30 build? Almost May. Way late for a vin starting with 58 from Norwood.

So does the Trim Tag look legit?

That ad sounds like they know nothing about a z28.  Horrible

This car truly deserves a "Caution Fan" sticker
Doc.

So does the Trim Tag look legit?

Tag may be legit, but has the largest "original to the car" rivets I've ever seen - must have drilled out the tag with a 3/8" drill bit and had to cover the larger hole up.
Engine pad stamp for the VIN is way to close to the head (shouldn't have been on there anyway). Clear sign of the block being stamped before the heads were installed -

So much wrong with this poor car. I've seen amateur restorations that look like dreams compared to this one -

Regards,
Steve
