Great find and interesting read!
I have a '68 396 SS/RS Norwood car with a 09C build date. I bought it from the original owner in '86 with the POP and all service and registration documentation, but didn't get the original bill of sale or window sticker.

Decoding/Numbers / Caveat Emptor-VIN tag problem?
« Last post by william on May 22, 2024, 12:49:02 PM »
https://www.ebay.com/itm/196405745892

Reported VIN 124379N521437

Ad states: "Ca built and registered car Black Ca. Tags."

Car is an SS-RS convert; that's a Norwood coupe VIN. Engine bay photo appears to show a 2nd design Norwood tag.

That had to be one of the last Z28's built at Van Nuys.

It’s getting expensive to build a numbers matching fake nowadays with paying for fake docs,
re-stamping motors, switching vins tags and repo trim tags. And of course the cost of completely rebuilding a rusted out 55 year old car. And don’t forget possible laws suits.  $90,200. Seems reasonable

You can see the bottom of the license plate holder from Fletcher's on this Camaro:

In order to see the photo of the license plate mounted on the rear of the Camaro, you will need to click on the first photo of this posting.
