I like the blue. Is that VHT?
Yes- VHT it is. I did the headers with it and thought I'd use it up. I figured if Penske could have yellow pipes, then why not...

Finally got the car running and got the exhaust finished up. Still need to get the brakes bled and the throttle cable hooked up, then it should be street worthy. I still have several other details to complete to make it "finished", but at least I'll be able to drive it around the block and annoy the neighbors..
The car is up on jack stands for the exhaust and brake bleeding, but hopefully it will be back on the ground soon for some better pics.

Thanks to all for the comments. :D Its been one of my funnest builds and I am very light-hearted about the whole thing- no ruffled feathers here.
The show will go on!

I was pointing out the Z/28 badges more than the black grills.

Dave- beautiful car no matter the grill color. I would like to own a legit 69 Z/28 some day...

lol- aw, cranky- I knew there was something amiss there! Thats it, I'm done with the car. With a blatant mistake like that- I cant go on... (tongue in cheek) ;)
Of course, I can move the emblem but it must stay- its the key element of a running joke. When people ask me if its a real Z28, I say "No, its not even a real Camaro!"
And I was never real big on the argent silver grill- always liked the black version better- correct or not... :-\

Anyhoo- thanks for keeping me honest...

I got my retro style Kirkey seat mounted and got my headlight covers and front spoiler on this weekend. Next up will be a custom wiring harness to feed the bare essentials and then I should be pretty close to test drive time.

I found this while digging around for some info on flaring camaro fenders.
This is from Ron Fournier's site. Pictures are kinda small but can see a little bit of the fenderwell area

I found some cheap used 200s copies (aluminum centers with steel hoops). 15x7 front and 15x8 rear- same tires as before. Pictures aren't the greatest, but take a look and see if you guys think this is a little more period looking. I may put some 1" spacers out back to get the flare a little more filled up- we'll see

There was a site on the web that had a ton of photos of the Penske 69 car when it was for sale at some point, but I cant remember the site. It may have been Canepa's site but I thought it was someone else. I downloaded some pics from there- they were hi-res, beautiful pictures and there were some great shots of the front fenderwells with the tire off. I printed one of those pictures to relieve the inner fenders on my street a/s tribute car. I cannot for the life of me find the digital copy and if it was Canepa's site those pictures are no longer there. I  was looking at these photos within the last 3-4 months so they were accessible up until just recently. I will see if I can find the print and scan it. I do remember from the pictures that the inner fender was cut out as mentioned above and there were NO holes as opposed to the rear wheel wells and doors/ door jambs.
Hope this helps a little bit

Alright- I ordered up some 265/50/15s and got them mounted up today. Also, got the rear window in and the straps fabbed up and put on- turned out pretty good. Really diggin' the new front tires, just wish the front end would settle down a bit. Maybe I'll raise the rear end back up an inch. Passenger side front sits higher than the driver side and the rear passenger side sits lower than the drivers rear... all new poly bushings and swapped original rear springs side to side. oh well good enough for now.

I checked the overall diameter of my tires- turns out I'm running 295/50/15 Hankook's on the rear which come out at 26.60" in dia. The Hankook 265/50/15 looks to be 25.4 dia so I think they will be perfect. Im gonna order up a pair from Discount Tire Direct which is here in Phoenix. Free shipping and I get them usually next day.
