Seller and his collection are well known in the SuperCar / Yenko.net circle. You can check over there if you have a serious interest in buying.

COPO Connection used to keep a list and issue certificates, but is now defunct. And nobody talks about them anymore.

Don't know the car, but did see it in an email from Mecum as part of the Main Attraction Paul Offutt Collection.

Curious why there is no VVS paperwork, and when did Mecum stop putting VIN's in the auction listing?

General Discussion / Re: Another 69Z project for sale (orange this time)

This car is in/from the rust belt and is being advertised in Southern California.
No one in their right mind in SoCal is going to buy and ship this crust bucket to the area of rust free cars. Especially a NOM project car with no provenance.

Decoding/Numbers / Re: 1967 Z28 Engine and Transmission Stamps
« on: November 28, 2018, 03:24:08 PM »
How can the gang stamp be misaligned the if it's real?

It's pretty obvious the MP suffix was hand stamped after the assembly plant and date was gang stamped.

May have something to do with it being an early and special engine build, especially being a smog variant.

Just goes to show you can't really judge a stamp on it's own. You need to have a data base of known good stamps in the same time period.

A couple of those pictures look like they were taken at a restoration shop. Probably had sticker shock!

You are not going to find a vinyl stripe kit for the front header and fenders because the compound curves will not allow it to fit correctly.

A google image search of the whole WWW is not going to be very helpful.
Over the years, there have been plenty of examples of original paint documented cars posted here, on TC, and on Yenkonet.
I would search those sites for BB original paint cars.
Here is one of those examples. This is an original documented car. Picture by a renowned collector and frequent contributor to these sites.

Decoding/Numbers / Re: Caveat Emptor...altered/swapped tag
« on: November 05, 2018, 06:38:18 PM »
That tag has definitely been reattached. The question is why would somebody change out the tag to such a low option non popular color tag. The only reason I can think is the original tag went missing when it was removed to paint the firewall and any old replacement they could find was attached.

That front right fender looks to be a late 80's replacement from GM. By the time they stopped selling them, the fit was terrible. Look how poor it fits around the grill.

The picture resolution is not that great, but it looks like there is an out line of an AC suitcase and I see 3 screws and a plate on top of the cowl where the AC diverter would be installed.
Also, that single orange wire going through that big grommet (behind the ignition wires) is where the AC wiring harness should be. Non AC cars don't have that.

The sales brochure is pure crap. They own that, why not use a nice color version?

It went from Royal Plum to Resale Red. I would have preferred the Royal Plum.

Original tag shows AC, repro does not. Is the firewall near the heater core all hacked up?

VIN tag is fine, it's just installed wrong.

Both trim and VIN tags look to have been removed and reinstalled. Perhaps for a color change.

When I bought my Camaro many years (before CRG) ago I was looking for information and called GM Owner Relations Dept.
They offered to send me an information package on my new (to me) 1968 Camaro. A big thick package arrived and I was so excited that I was getting the history of my special car. Then I open the package and realized it was just a bunch of poorly photo copied crap. A lot of it not even GM original. Just photo copies of a sales brochure, AMA specs, and white book data.

Funny thing is it is exactly the same today, only you can download it from GM. Any one want to see a photo copy of a photo copy of a color brochure in black and and white with 3-ring binder holes punched in it? Here you go, thanks GM:
