Wait all day to see the Strickler car go across the block and as soon as its coming they cut to commercial and do not get to see it.. >:(
Thanks FOX!!! >:( >:( >:( Is it me or do they pass over a lot of Camaros on the televised portions...??..

I don't watch B-J very much.
Personally, I like Mecum Auctions a lot better... the prices are more REALISTIC.
-
It sold for $ 253,000.
-
It IS sponsored by Ford. I wanted to watch Chip Miller's '53 Corvette go across. I remember when he bought it, but I don't have nat'l geo. channel. Screw B-J.
-
They aired a special on what was going to be auctioned off earlier in the week and had a spot on Old Reliable & Mr. MacNeish and a couple other cars. Then you arent going to show it.. That my friends is BS...
-
Agreed--if your into drag racing , very important car for Camaros ( and my favorite of all time Bill Jenkins 67) Win on Sunday Sunday SSUNNDAYY ! sell on Monday, how many were probably sold because of that car--not to mention the R&D that was being done by Mr. Jenkins in head design ? Piece of rolling history. Shame on the coverage.
-
1953 Corvette unrestored sold at BJ for 250,00k don't know if it was Chips.
-
The Miller Vette sold at 660k: Miller Vette. (http://www.barrett-jackson.com/application/onlinesubmission/lotdetails.aspx?ln=5038&aid=525) Love that car!
-
Phil, that car was the foundation for Carlisle events. Chip bought it and AACA had no interest in an unrestored car, maybe '73. I'm sorry to see his family sell it. He got special permission from GM to buy matching serial number '03, the other half of the package.

another thing about the BJ coverage is they have it on too many different channels. a bunch of bunk if you ask me.

Yep! I miss the SPEED channel!
-
I agree...They have cut to commercial on the majority of Camaro's starting with Friday's coverage

If you've noticed, the preferred coverage has been Ford for the last couple of years, as they are sponsored by Ford, or have been. I think the Fox network is to blame for some of it, and I hated the fact you can't see the auction total running in the top left corner of the screen (whereas it's clear as day on NG).
Fox apparently has missed the fact all week that a lot of people watch B-J, and hopefully those watching feel the same way we do about coverage, or lack of it. They can stick it. I waited for a couple of hours to get to Old Reliable, only to see it get skipped. Makes me wanna watch C-Span.

They showed the 2014 Z 28 get sold but only because it was for charity sold to Rick Hendrick for 650k. Hammer price.
-
Was it the first Z/28?( The pearl white one that Jay leno test drove?)
what is the best way to see the results or what a car bid up to?
-
It was white and the first production 001 Z, don't know if Jay drove it or not. BJ web site I'd guess?

Here... (http://www.barrett-jackson.com/application/onlinesubmission/searchdocket.aspx?aid=525&sd=01/18/2014&ed=01/18/2014)
Type "Camaro" (or whatever) in search box and click Search...

Go to B-J's internet site - you can search the auctions by day or type, click on the lot number and pull up the results and the description. It is easy and cool to be able to see them all -
Try this : http://www.barrett-jackson.com/application/onlinesubmission/searchdocket.aspx?aid=525&sd=01/12/2014&ed=01/21/2014

BULLITT65 I don't think the white Z is the first production Z 28 because if you look B J web site under lot #3011 there is no VIN number, no exterior color or interior, or trans. It says " The winning bidder will receive the first production vehicle" I think Rick gets to pick the colors and type of trans.

Just a reminder you can get a live video stream on Barrett's website.
-
thanks guys for the search info. thanks vince , I agree, they will probably shelf the prototype for now.
-
Saw that part of the show. They said he could order options, color etc, but it would be the first retail 2014 Camaro.
-

even if the new Z became a collectors item how long would it take to be worth $650k???

For me and you, never. But for Mr. Hendrick, who has done this sort of thing many times, it was probably a done deal before the bidding started. I think it would look good in the display area out front of his private collection, right beside his giant NASCAR trophy.
-
I could be wrong, but I think he can write off any amount over the retail price of the car. For tax purposes.
-
That's true. The excess he pays over the MSRP of the car is a charitable contribution. He can reduce his (or the corporations) taxable income by that amount, although it may be subject to certain limitations.

Did you see this at BJ cross the block? A $3.8 million 67 L88 Vette

I didn't see it sell, any idea who bought it?
-
Don't know his name he had a black tee shirt on and his bid card was #4022.
-
Hemmings Motor News had a little blurb on it a few days ago, but didn't id the buyer that I saw....

The BJ coverage will get better. Due to the fact that Speed went away, the Fox Business and FS1 were the best they had to offer for 2014. I found out after talking to personnel at BJ that the coverage exploded the ratings so next year will be better and more consistent. Trouble with most of the Mecum cars is "The Bid Goes On." 70% of the cars do not sell.
What I have positive to say about BJ now is they are trying to clean up all of the fakes that come to auction. They have hired automotive specialists to do inspections before the cars go across the block, and that's a good thing.

Yah Jerry, I did pick up on the fact that they had specialists on hand. And actually saw you on TV. Good job!
-
Yep, can't say the same for other auctions. Have a hot mess law suit getting ready to blast off shortly. Stay tuned. Fake black Z28, hidden vin numbers ground out, incorrect trim tag, restamped drive train and more. All the best!
