Decoding/Numbers / Re: Caveat Emptor...another repro window sticker
« on: February 01, 2017, 02:42:40 AM »
It's tough to say.

Probably pretty rare for a LOS car to be delivered to the east coast. Can't say it NEVER happened but maybe a case of a service person ordering it on the west coast and then ending being transferred to the east coast before delivery?

On options, tough to prove what is original without docs. A lot of things have been added to cars over time. Might have been pulled from another car that was wrecked early? Lots of restorations were done in the 80s and without extremely close examination, can sometimes be hard to tell from original - because original parts could have been used. And lacquer paint was still readily available.

Originality / Re: Service Engines (CE coded)
« on: February 01, 2017, 02:03:28 AM »
Thanks Lynn.

It is unknown why some blocks have all digits aligned and others don't.

The hypothesis is that some workers changed the last few digits for every stamp, but one or more different people would leave the stamp setup without the last two numbers, then stamp the last two slightly later. Someone might have thought it was a time-saving procedure. I don't know if it really was or not. This seems to be observed more often with Flint CE blocks than Tonawanda CE blocks.

Kelley, I think if you could find out any other information other than past owners (Charles has that info) that would be great. Or if any docs exist, that would be even better!

General Discussion / Re: Home page- your car could be the feature car!!
« on: January 31, 2017, 04:23:28 PM »
A new Feature Car has been posted for February/March.  I posted it a day early, since February is a short month, and there were just regular pics up previously (no Feature Car last time).

I do have a car possibly setup for April/May, but no others that I can remember.

Please consider submitting your car with a write-up or at least a pic to post up on the main page.

Steve has been the main contact for submitting pics for a long time.  You can send them to me direct, but it is probably best to send them to Steve first.

Send your photos to:    sdkar@bellsouth.net

Thank You!

I saw this too, but wasn't sure on the VIN.  You want to ask for a better pic?

Plugs are wrong by the way...

I believe the 67 oil pan for the 302 is different than the 327 pan but I think a 327 pan would work.

You can ask Jon Mello, he should be able to tell you.

Or try the search feature on this site.

CE coded/stamped engines started with the 1968 model year. For 67, I am not completely sure how warranty engines were handled. I believe some did receive an engine assembly date stamp and application code.  Some others had a blank pad.

Since yours has a partial VIN, yes it was installed in a Camaro at Norwood.

Here ya go Bryon, I looked it up earlier.

http://www.compcams.com/Company/CC/cam-specs/Details.aspx?csid=111&sb=2

It has a reverse split lift, and I noticed it's ground on a 112 LSA and 108 ICL.

it's going to act a little different than the original duntov 30-30 especially depending on where it's installed at.   So I'm curious how the vacuum is.

OK, I just wondered how it compared to the 350/350 cam.

Are you looking for date code correct or just correct ratio used gears?  Send me a PM.

Thanks for the info, ill run a vacuum gauge on it before i pull the carb off. Then check the power valves and what jets are currently in it. As for the cam specs here they are based off my cam card:

Duration - 286I/293E, Duration @ .050" - 239I/246E,  LSA is 112

How about the lift?

General Discussion / Re: 1968 Le Mans Blue vs. 1969 Le Mans Blue

I can try to check my paint books later today.

68 and 69 use two different codes. I imagine the 68 Camaro color is the same as the 68 Corvette color. GM would not have different colors in the same year, in my opinion.

The formulas won't work today, like they did back then, because the paints are different today. Different type of paint and pigments/toners.

* typo fixed - I changed 69 Corvette to 68 Corvette (should have been clear from how the sentence was worded).
